Camp Tuscazoar to host pig roast fundraiser
Camp Tuscazoar will host its 23rd annual Pig Roast fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 3-7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. at the camp dining hall. This fundraiser, which is open to the public, provides resources for yearly maintenance, repair and construction projects at the historic camp.
The Pig Roast menu will include roast pork, barbecued chicken, green beans, corn (donated by Molesky Farms), applesauce, baked potatoes, rolls and butter, a beverage and homemade desserts.
Our Pig Roast fundraiser has become an important Camp Tuscazoar tradition, said Bob Spencer, president of the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation. Our guests look forward to returning to camp in September to enjoy a delicious meal, to walk around camp to see whats been accomplished and to reconnect with friends.
Advance tickets are available by calling 330-493-1386, 330-859-2288 or from Camp Tuscazoar Foundation members. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Transportation will be provided between the camp parking lot and dining hall. A door prize drawing will be offered as well.
On Saturday, Dulcimers n Such will entertain guests with a mix of music played on the mountain dulcimer, guitar, autoharp, harmonica, kalimba, banjimer, washtub bass, tambourine, spoons and an occasional mandolin, dobro, accordion and limberjack. Another local band, Sugarcreek Limited, will play on Sunday.
The W.C. Moorhead Museum will be open during the event. The museum contains Scouting memorabilia dating from Camp Tuscazoars earliest days to the present. The camp will have its old-fashioned maple syrup and other souvenir items available for purchase as well.
