Christmas in Historic Zoar coming in December
Christmas in Zoar will return to Historic Zoar Village on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m and Sunday, Dec. 3 from noon to 4 p.m.
Visitors can experience the village in its Christmas splendor and learn about early American and German holiday traditions. There also will be musical entertainment, hot chocolate, horse-drawn wagon rides through town, and visits from Kristkind, the German Belsnickel and Santa.
Various local choirs and musical groups will perform holiday music including the Camarada Brass Quintet, Delphian Chorale, Hoover High School choir and Tuscarawas Valley High School choir.
Gifts and décor will be available for purchase throughout the village. Visitors also may shop at the Zoar Store, Bakery, Bimeler Museum, Garden House Shoppe and the Stars of Zoar Co-op.
Historic interpreters in period dress will demonstrate traditional 19th century methods of preparing holiday foods and wares. Guests can attend a Saturday church service at 6 p.m. Self-guided tours also will be available.
Additionally, guests can attend the first lighting of the new Zoar Garden tree on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Ohio History Connection and Zoar Community Association collaborated on replacing the former 100-year-old “Tree of Everlasting Life” that was damaged in a wind storm this past March.
Food will be available for purchase from booths sponsored by ZCA, Soul Sisters Café and Los Venados.
Christmas in Zoar admission is $10 for adults and free for children age 12 and under. For tickets, more information about the event or to apply to become an artisan vendor, call 330-874-3011 or visit www.historiczoarvillage.com.
