The board of the Wayne County Commissioners is accepting proposals for the lease of an approximately 10-acre horse arena complex located at 3750 Secrest Road, Wooster.

The complex includes:

—Approximately 9 acres of pasture divided into three sections.

—A 44-by-80-foot handicap-accessible stable with nine stalls, a horse-washing station, a bathroom, a kitchen and an electrically heated office.

—A 72-by-104-foot riding arena with access doors on all four sides including gates, equipment storage area, viewing and parking area.

“In the recent past, these buildings have been used to provide therapeutic riding services,” Wayne County administrator Patrick Herron said. “It would be the commissioners’ hope that something similar can take place once again, but we are open to all proposals at this time.”

The board intends the complex be used, maintained and improved at the cost of the leasee with the potential of financial return.

All proposals should identify the premises’ intended use, lease terms, renewal periods and the amount of proposed rent.

Proposals must be received by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the following address: ATTN: County Administrator, Board of County Commissioners of Wayne County, Ohio, 428 W. Liberty St., Lower Level, Wooster, OH 44691.

Immediately following the submission deadline, all proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud in the meeting room on the Wayne County Administration Building’s upper level located at 428 W. Liberty St., Wooster.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, bidders are asked to send a maximum of one representative. Bidders also may participate via Zoom. Meeting information will be posted at www.wayneohio.org/wayne-county-commissioners-public-meeting-details.

Questions regarding the proposal may be sent via email to Jim Rockhold by 2 p.m. five days before the submission due date at jrockhold@wayneohio.org.

A preproposal conference is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. on the premises. No prior visits to the site will be permitted.

Additional details and proposal submission guidelines are available online at www.wayneohio.org/more/commissioners/legal-notices.
