Cutshaver sworn in as deputy dog warden
Deputy Dog Warden Jenna Cutshaver was recently sworn in as the newest member of the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center team.
As a deputy dog warden, Cutshaver will play a role in ensuring the safety and welfare of dogs within the county. The profession allows for hands-on interaction with various dog breeds and the opportunity to educate the public on responsible pet ownership including the importance of spaying and neutering, proper training, and socialization.
Cutshaver earned a degree in natural resources law enforcement from Hocking College.
“This is the perfect job for me,” Cutshaver said. “I went to college for law enforcement, and I love dogs. Being a deputy has some difficult aspects, but ultimately, it is gratifying because we are helping the dogs.”
Shelter personnel often collaborate with rescue organizations and veterinarians to create a network that benefits animals and people. In addition, the shelter holds fundraisers regularly to ensure the best possible care for resident dogs while contributing to public safety, another important aspect of the position.
“We are fortunate to have Jenna on board,” said Katelyn Lehman, dog warden and shelter director. “The training she had in college, specifically in report writing, is beneficial. She was able to jump in and hit the ground running. She has been a huge asset to the shelter, and we are happy to have her with us.”
