Veteran TV travel reporter Neil Zurcher is almost always on the road somewhere in Ohio, and one of his next stops is Dover. Zurcher, the longtime host of “One Tank Trips” on Fox8 TV in Cleveland, will talk about his favorite Ohio getaways on Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St. The event is free and open to the public. He will also autograph copies of his new book, “The Best of One Tank Trips,” which can be purchased for $15.95 in paperback. This might be Zurcher’s last official visit to Dover. He plans to retire from television this fall after 54 years associated with WJW-TV. “Dover is one of my favorite towns because it’s the gateway to Ohio’s Amish Country,” Zurcher said. Zurcher has long specialized in recommending unusual, often smaller attractions that are off the beaten path. “The Best of One Tank Trips” collects his personal favorites. “I’m more interested in telling you about places that you might not yet know about,” he writes in his book’s introduction. Dover-area attractions featured in “The Best of One Tank Trips” include Tuscora Park, The Famous Endings Museum located in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Warther Museum and Gardens, and the Lynn Auto Drive-In Theater, which is the second-oldest drive-in movie in the U.S. Neil Zurcher also writes about local travel on his website: www.OneTankTrips.com.
