Whiskey 7, a C-47, was the lead plane to drop paratroopers behind the Germans on Normandy on D-Day. This plane is coming to be toured and photographed and offering rides in place of the DC-3 at the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1077 hangar in New Philadelphia.

Aviation enthusiasts who can make it to New Philadelphia in August will have the chance to ride in two planes from the Golden Age of Aviation.

Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1077 will host a C-47 and B-25 Bomber from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 26 at the EAA hangar at 1802 E. High Ave. in New Philadelphia.

Admission to watch the living history flights take off and land is free, but rides cost between $75 and $495.

In the early hours on the morning of June 6, 1944, now known as D-Day, Allied forces began the invasion of Normandy, France in an effort to retake France and eventually defeat the tyrannical forces of Nazi Germany.

Whiskey 7 was the lead plane tasked with dropping paratroopers to one of the most critical sites to support the land troops when they arrived. This plane is still flying today and will be one of the planes coming to New Philadelphia on Aug. 25 and 26 to see, tour and ride.
