Norma Johnson Center will host Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 13 from noon to 5 p.m. at the picnic shelter located on Conservation Drive across from the red barn and along the NJC trails.

Those attending will have a chance to paint pumpkins, make scarecrows (bring your own clothes to stuff), go on a family hike through the woods while stopping to make a variety of fall crafts and snacks along the trails, fish at the pond, and more. There also may be a petting zoo.

Bring a pole to participate in fishing activities. Some poles are available from the NJC for those who forget. There is a $5 donation per car upon entering; otherwise there is no charge for the event. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Fundraisers that will take place during the Fall Fest will be a food stand with hot dogs, chips, drinks and cookies available for donation.

All a Flutter will return to the NJC to release monarchs for their migration to Mexico. A butterfly can be purchased for $5 and then sent on its way to its winter home.

NJC memberships will be available and can be purchased at the food stand. Levels of membership include Student/Senior at $10, Individual at $20, Family at $40, Corporate at $150, Oak at $250 and Cherry at $500.

This event will not be cancelled if it rains, but activities will be downscaled and take place in the red barn on Conservation Drive in the case of rain.

The Norma Johnson Center is located off of state Route 39 between Dover and Sugarcreek. The picnic shelter is located on Conservation Drive, just off of Old state Route 39.

Follow Special Event signs to the event location. Questions about the event can be answered by calling NJC director Marsha Freeland at 330-339-7976 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
