A Sunday fire in a Millersburg residence was contained to the attic area.

Holmes Fire District #1 Capt. Tim Stryker said the fire, at 188 North Washington Street,  was reported at approximately 3:34 p.m. and contained by 4:33 p.m.

The residence’s owner, Rob Hovis, was at home at the time of the fire and was not injured.

The first units to arrive on scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the attic, Stryker said. Crews were able to enter the attic and kept the fire from spreading.

Mutual aid was provided by East Holmes and Paint Township. A total of 37 personnel responded, Stryker said.
Stryker said that house fires trigger automatic requests for mutual aid.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as accidental, Stryker said. No injuries were reported.
