Fly-fishing clinics to be offered at Wooster
The Clear Fork River Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold free fly-fishing clinics on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1-4 p.m. on Apple Creek at Grosjean Park in Wooster.
The clinics are intended for kids and adults who have no or limited experience fly-fishing. A parent or responsible adult must accompany kids age 10-15. Those participants 16 and older must possess a valid 2018 Ohio fishing license.
The Trout Unlimited clinics are co-sponsored by the City of Wooster and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. The clinics have been offered at Grosjean Park since 2013.
Experienced Trout Unlimited members will guide fly-fishing students. The clinic will familiarize students with fly-fishing tackle and fishing flies; how to cast a fly line; fish a fly; and to hook, play, land and release trout back into the stream. All trout fishing in Apple Creek is catch and release.
The sponsors encourage family members to participate. Fishing flies, fly-fishing tackle and waders for kids will be available for participants. Each class is limited to 20 students. Additional information can be found on the Trout Unlimited website at cfrtu.org.
If interested in signing up for one of the clinics, email Skip Nault at bugmanosu@gmail.com or call 330-345-6779 and provide the following information no later than Monday, Oct. 15: names of participants 16 and older, names and ages of kids age 10-15, email address and telephone number, and preference of attending the Saturday, Oct. 20 or Sunday, Oct. 21 clinic.
