History of the Lynn Drive-In coming to the Dover Library
Darla and Rich Reding, current owners of the Lynn Drive-In Theatre, will be at the Dover Public Library on Tuesday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. to share images and their favorite memories of the oldest operating drive-in theater in Ohio and second oldest continuously operating drive-in theater in the world.
The theater located where state Routes 250 and 21 meet in Strasburg opened in 1937 and was known as Boyer’s Auto Theatre. The name changed to Lynn Auto Theatre in 1948 in honor of the new owner’s daughter Lynn McCombs. In 1957 Richard Reding purchased the theater, and it has been in the Reding family ever since.
The four generations of Redings made many changes and improvements to the theater and its property. The original golf range, arcade, restaurant and gas station closed. A second screen was added in 1967. Over the years many updates have been made to the projection and sound systems in order to provide the best in family entertainment.
This program will be held in the community room at the DPL, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. Call the library at 330-343-6123 or register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events.
