Family Movie Matinee

The animated movie “Migration,” rated PG, will be shown at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m.

Little writers’ workshop

The West Holmes Middle School Power of the Pen, hosted by the Holmes County District Public Library, will offer an opportunity to learn about writing activities and storytelling for kindergartners through fourth-graders at the Holmes Central Library on Tuesday, May 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students are encouraged to bring prewritten stories. Email the WHMS Power of the Pen coach to register or with any questions at llang@westholmes.org or call 330-231-6359.

Story times

For kids age 2-5 with an adult, there will be story times at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, May 8, 15 and 22 at 10:30 a.m. and at the Holmes Central Library on Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m.

Little Learners Playgroup

Kids up to age 5 with an adult will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Holmes Central Library on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. Snacks will be provided.

Author visit

Meet Becca Wierwille and talk about her new book “Road Trip Rescue” at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, May 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Books will be available for purchase.

Paws to Read

Children are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Make your own bath bombs

Children middle school age and up will create a bath bomb using a variety of colors and fragrances at the Holmes Central Library on Tuesday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Succulent workshop

Discover the charm of succulents at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. This workshop will cover the basics of potting succulents, and participants will pot their own plants to take home. The workshop is intended for adults and teens. Registration is required.

Kids Craft Night

Children in elementary school will make their own squishie, a beaded firefly and a pipe cleaner turtle at the Holmes Central Library on Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. Snacks will be provided. Registration is required.

Book discussion
for adults

The event will be held Tuesday, May 28 discussing “Only the Beautiful” by Susan Meissner at the Holmes Central Library at 1 p.m. and “Wandering Stars” by Tommy Orange at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg at 6 p.m.

Adventure begins
at the library

The 2024 summer reading program will take place June 3 through July 20. There are reading programs for all ages and chances to win prizes. Registration will begin May 28 at the Holmes Central Library or the East Branch Library.

Summer reading kickoff

Sign up for the summer reading program at the Holmes Central Library on Friday, May 31 from 4-6 p.m. Experience the Leaping Lizards animal show, the bounce house, the photo booth and face painting and read to a therapy dog. The Holmes County Board of DD and the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Wayne & Holmes Counties also will be onsite, providing information and activities.
