Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church (corner of Third and Dawson streets) is beginning a series of one-night workshops to help individuals looking for a job or those who want to improve or get a better job. Recognizing the need for skills to be employed, the church has gathered a number of professionals to lead the various workshops. Topics covered include writing a resume, interviewing skills, dressing for an interview or to secure an advancement, basic computer skills, social and work ethics, group work skills, and financial planning (balancing a budget to survive, etc.). The first workshop to be offered is Writing or Revising your Resume. It will be offered Jan. 14 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church (225 N. Dawson St.). Attendees are encouraged to bring a sample resume for review by the panel of professionals. Skills to be covered will be marketing yourself, conveying your strengths, what not to say, and making yourself stand out among many other applicants. The First UMC is offering these programs as a ministry; there will be no fee charged. Light refreshments will be offered during this casual, informative workshop. Call 740-922-3881 for any questions. The workshops are open to anyone in the area who are at least old enough to have a work permit, and older. Attendees can choose which workshops they wish to attend.
