The Loudonville Public Library announced programs for October. For more information about any of these events, call the library at 419-994-5531.

The library will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 5 so staff can enjoy the fair with friends and family.

Story time will take place Tuesdays, Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 10 a.m. This program for children age 2-5 will feature storytelling, songs, finger plays and crafts. Caregivers must be present, and younger siblings are welcome.

Pinterest Power will offer adults a chance to make a free-standing fabric ghost on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. or Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required, and each session is limited to 12 participants.

On Thursday, Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m., children and teens can participate in Thursday Crafternoon, where they will create ghost paintings and spooky doll head succulents. There are separate classes for first grade through fifth grade and sixth grade through 12th grade. Registration is required with a limit of 10 spots per class.

Moms with children at home are invited to Moms’ Night Out on Monday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The event will include crafting, a caramel apple bar and apple cider while children age 2 and up will have activities in the youth department. Registration is required, with a limit of 20 adults.

On Thursday, Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m., both Kid Cuisine for first grade through fifth grade and Teen Cuisine for sixth grade through 12th grade will offer participants the chance to create spooky cookies. Registration is required, with each session limited to eight participants.

The library will open at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, due to a staff development session.

National Friends of the Library Week will run Oct. 20-26, with special items and sales at the Friends Book Store.

Chess Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m., open to kids third grade through eighth grade of all skill levels.

Also on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m., kids seventh grade through 12th grade are invited to attend the Teen Advisory Board meeting to develop their mission statement and brainstorm winter programming ideas.

An adult book discussion will take place Friday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m., featuring “The Book That Matters Most” by Ann Hood. The meeting will be held in the Golden Center, and new members are welcome.

The Bring Your Own Book Club will meet Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., where participants can share their current reads and discover new books.

On Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m., the Ohio Canid Center will present Foxes in Folklore, an educational event exploring the intelligence and cultural significance of foxes in literature, film and more, accompanied by live furry friends.
