Meeting to decide on trap-kill for bobcats
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources wants to open a trap-kill season for Ohio’s bobcat population with leg-hold traps.
The species was just recently removed from the Ohio Endangered Species List in 2014. The only public meeting for this decision is April 23 at 2 p.m. at the Wildlife District Office in Columbus.
Members of the community are urging residents to call Gov. Kasich at 614-466-3555 to oppose this action until further science–based research is performed while others are asking for support of the measure.
Comments also can be mailed to ODNR, Chief Mike Miller, 2045 Morse Road, Building G, Columbus, OH 43229-6693, by March 31.
The vote is May 9 at the Wildlife District Office, 1500 Dublin Road, Columbus, at 6:30 p.m.
