The Village of Millersburg Council met Monday, Dec. 23.

Several items were discussed during the meeting:

—Council congratulated the village’s flag winners, Piper Yoder and Briella House, who worked together to make a flag representing Millersburg in many ways, from the weather to how many houses are in the village. Both received a cash prize.

—The design/review board will meet Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. to discuss the Millersburg Christian Church plans. The planning and zoning board will meet Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. to review JH Company LLC’s request for a shipping container.

—There will be a public meeting on Jan. 13 at 6:50 p.m. to discuss the DeHass rezoning request on Koch Street.

—The street department storage building is progressing as the weather allows. The village is about 75% done with it.

—The village received a quote for the pedestrian crosswalk between the post office and the parking lot on South Washington Street. Council agreed to add an island for pedestrians where the current blue mailboxes are located and relocate the sidewalk to go behind that island. There also will be flashing lights at the crosswalk. The village hopes this will make pedestrians more visible to vehicles on South Washington Street. The village will use funds from the state for the project.

—Mayor Kelly Hoffee will give a State of the Village address at the next council meeting on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and discuss meeting times and committee appointments.
