Responding to reports that President Obama is looking to introduce immigration reform legislation by the end of this month, U.S. Rep. Zack Space (OH-18) blasted the proposed plan and promised to fight any efforts that provide benefits to those in the United States illegally.“I will absolutely not allow special interests to enact a policy that will hurt Ohioans,” Space said. “Offering amnesty to those who compete for American jobs after entering our country illegally constitutes a slap in the face to my constituents who are out of work and struggling for ways to feed their families.”
According to Roll Call, Obama promised a coalition of immigrant advocacy groups that he would produce a framework for immigration reform legislation by March 21 and vowed to press the Senate for action on the issue. The coalition of groups was coincidentally planning to protest the administration on their lack of action on immigration reform. Congressman Space has been a leader in fighting liberal efforts to provide a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Congressman Space has represented Ohio’s 18th Congressional District since 2007. He has been working to restore integrity to the office, and to create the conditions to bring new industry and jobs to Ohio. Recently, Congressman Space launched FIGHTING TO RENEW OHIO, the second phase of his plan to provide long-term economic growth in Ohio’s 18th Congressional District.
