Post 494 announces plans for Memorial Day
Sugarcreek’s American Legion Post 494 recently announced its plans for Memorial Day on May 31.
There will be no parades, speakers or band music for this year, with plans of holding a full program in 2022. The Post Honors Team is planning to conduct a short ceremony at 7:45 a.m. at Walnut Creek, moving on to Dundee at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sugarcreek at 9:30 a.m., Union Hill from 10-10:15 a.m. and finishing up at Ragersville at 10:30 a.m. Each ceremony will last no more than 15 minutes as the post honors its departed comrades.
Due to COVID-19, the post’s 2020 services were private, but this year the public is invited to attend. Social distancing and masks are recommended.
As in the past, Post 494 will continue to decorate veterans’ graves. If one is missed, contact Post Commander Dan Crenner or Jeff Schrock.
