The Holmes County Republican Central Committee met Wednesday evening and appointed Ronda Steimel of Millersburg as the new county clerk of courts, succeeding Dorcas Miller, who retired May 1 after holding the office for a record tenure. The appointment vote by the committee was announced by party chairman Rob Hovis. Hovis said that Steimel impressed the committee with her enthusiasm for the position and her experience with the court system as owner of a real estate title company for the past 15 years. She will take office upon the appointment being certified by state officials and after taking the oath of office, which should occur within several days. The Republican Central Committee is composed of 19 members, one elected from each voting precinct in the county by Republican voters at four-year intervals.
