The Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission continues to offer assistance to laid-off workers wanting to return to college, trade school or adult education classes. To qualify, a documented job loss resulting from a lay-off must have occurred in the household since Jan. 1, 2008. The person must still be unemployed or underemployed. Underemployment is determined by previous income from where the job was lost versus current employment income. Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland will provide assistance up to $2,500 for tuition, books, and/or supplies for further education and/or job skill training. Current income for all members residing in the household must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Income is calculated annually or for the past 13 weeks, whichever benefits the client.
