Tuscarawas County Humane Society to host open house
The Tuscarawas County Humane Society located at 1432 Tall Timber Road NE in New Philadelphia will host a fall open house Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1-4 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
In an effort to give the public the opportunity to see the facility that opened last February after a two-year fundraising campaign, the shelter will offer light refreshments, face painting, a 50-50 raffle as well as a K-9 police demonstration from Sugarcreek police.
To be entered in a gift basket drawing, simply bring a can of dog or cat food to the open house.
Some of the shelters longest residents will have their adoption fees discounted with the hope they can go home with a new family.
The shelter offers an expanded space for up to 33 dogs with exterior runs as well as housing for 60 cats on site, plus outdoor play areas. With a fully equipped surgical center and quarantine areas for dogs and cats, the shelter is better equipped than ever before to meet the needs of the regions homeless animals.
The shelter also includes pasture for horses and livestock.
Regular shelter hours are hours are Monday from 1-4 p.m.; Tuesday from 1-7 p.m.; and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The shelter is closed on Thursday. For more information, call 330-343-6060.
