Uhrichsville police are investigating an alleged sexual assault at the Uhrichsville Water Park. Sgt. Sean Smith said Thursday, July 14, that police are investigating the incident, which occurred June 23 and involved a 15-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman. The boy was a resident at the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center when the alleged assault occurred, Smith said, and was at the water park as part of a diversion program for teen offenders who are doing well at the attention center. Smith said the alleged assault occurred in an area of the park attached to the concession stand. The boy and woman have given conflicting stories as to who approached who, Smith said. “We’ve talked to both the alleged victim and the boy, and they both say the other approached them,” Smith said. The woman was a patron of the water park. There is no evidence to indicate the boy and woman know each other, Smith said. Smith said police will conduct another interview with the woman and prepare a report for the prosecuting attorney next week. Smith said the city has had no problems with the diversion program through Multi-County in the past. On the day of the incident, there were 12 juveniles with Multi-County observed by three staff from the attention center. Smith said the investigation may go into “further steps” such as a polygraph test.
