Walnut Creek open for business during upcoming road work
Walnut Creek businesses along Main Street will remain open during a road improvement project beginning in June.
Der Dutchman Restaurant and the other Dutchman Hospitality Group locations along Main Street in Walnut Creek will remain open for business during a road improvement project that will impact traffic on campus.
The street will close between the restaurant and Carlisle Inn for 60 days beginning in June while crews replace a retaining wall. Signs will direct guests to the main parking area, which will be accessible from Olde Pump Street and the driveway to the inn closest to state Route 39.
“The path here may be different this summer, but the food, service and view will remain the same,” Der Dutchman general manager Tracy Houze said. “We want to thank you in advance for allowing us to be a part of your day and for your patience during this time.”
Visitors are asked to be mindful and drive cautiously through the area. Limited street-side parking will be available in front of Carlisle Gifts, and shuttles will be available to transport guests with mobility challenges.
“Please don’t let the construction stop you from coming to see us,” gift shop GM Heather May said. “We have three elevator-accessible floors to explore with collectibles, home decor, clothing, accessories and items you won’t find elsewhere. Let us help you pick the perfect gift or souvenir to take home from your trip. We’ll even wrap it for free.”
At the Carlisle Inn, GM Marcie Solovyov and her team are committed to ensuring guests can find their way around and have an enjoyable stay.
“We know that this may be frustrating, and we apologize in advance for any noise or inconvenience you may experience,” Solovyov said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for being our guest.”
For 75 days, also beginning in June, state Route 515 will close to nonlocal traffic from Walnut Street to U.S. 62 for rehabilitation work. The posted detour will follow Routes 62 and 39 through Berlin to Walnut Creek and back.
