Wooster has exceeded its goal in AEP Ohios Community Energy Savers program
AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power, announced the city of Wooster has exceeded four weeks ahead of schedule its participation goal in AEP Ohios Community Energy Savers program.
AEP Ohio works with governments and communities to encourage residents and businesses to participate in energy-efficiency programs the company offers. While community members benefit from saving energy and money in their homes and businesses, their actions also help the community receive incentives from AEP Ohio toward an improvement project identified by the community.
Working with AEP Ohio, the city set out to earn 665 points in four months as its energy-efficiency program participation goal. After just three months in the program Wooster achieved 819 points.
For its success AEP Ohio will help the city develop a Sustainability Roadmap that will provide a framework for the citys ongoing sustainability initiatives. The city also will receive $25,000 to use toward energy-efficiency upgrades at city park facilities and downtown lighting.
To achieve its goal, the city and its partners such as the Chamber of Commerce and Buckeye Energy Solutions successfully promoted AEP Ohios energy-efficiency programs and helped educate the community about the benefits of energy efficiency and sustainability.
We are excited that this project was a success, and we want to thank our residents and businesses for helping us reach our goal in the Community Energy Savers program, said Andrew Guidetti, city of Wooster PPM supervisor. The award money will help us supplement energy-efficiency projects at park facilities and upgrade downtown lighting. We are eager to continue our partnership with AEP Ohio in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability actions through the city of Woosters Sustainability Roadmap.
We applaud Woosters commitment to sustainable practices and their success, said Michael T. LaScola, coordinator, training and education for AEP Ohio. By participating in Community Energy Savers, residents and businesses in Wooster were able to learn about and take advantage of energy-efficiency programs and incentives available through the company. We invite other communities to join us in what we believe is a win/win for communities, residents and businesses as well as AEP Ohio.
Communities interested in participating in Community Energy Savers should email Michael T. LaScola at mtlascola@aep.com or call 614-883-6883 to discuss the opportunity.
