Andrew L. Schlabach

                        
Andrew L. Schlabach, 78, of Sugarcreek died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 16, 1935 in Holmes County to the late Jonas E. and Lydiann (Troyer) Schlabach. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and was a member of Union Valley East Amish Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty C. Miller, whom he married March 20, 1958; his children, Lavern (Betty) Schlabach, Robert (Arlene) Schlabach, Frieda (Sanford) Yoder, Leroy (Ina) Schlabach and Edward (Regina) Schlabach all of Sugarcreek, Steven (Joleen) Schlabach of Sarasota, Fla. and Marion (Brenda) Schlabach of Seneca, S.C.; brother, Oren (Shirley) Schlabach of Berlin; sisters, Ada (Mel) Raber of Walnut Creek, Esther (Abe) Troyer of Sugarcreek, and Freda Schlabach of New Philadelphia; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brent and Bethany and an infant brother and sister. Services were held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 9 a.m. at the Edward Schlabach residence, SR 93, Sugarcreek with Bishop Robert A. Troyer officiating. Burial was in the Yoder Cemetery in Clark Township, Holmes County. Arrangements were handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home (www.smithfuneral.com) at Sugarcreek.
