Catherine A. Bell

                        
Catherine A. Bell, a kind, caring and compassionate soul, passed from this world while surrounded by her loving family, and entered the full joy of the Lord Thursday, July 10, 2014. She was 88, and had resided at Dover since 1995, coming from Enon. Born June 24, 1926 at Boughtonville, Huron County, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Hulda (Weckesser) Pittenger. Catherine graduated from Willard High School, and Dec. 24, 1948 married George A. Bell. The couple reared three children and shared nearly 54 years of marriage prior to George’s passing Oct. 10, 2002. Catherine was a devoted wife and mother, and was a retired employee of Indian Valley Schools at Enon. Catherine’s life revolved around God and family, and doing for others. She especially enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy. She attended LifeBridge Community Church at Dover, and belonged to the Women’s Bible Study group at Sugarcreek. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Coombs (Ron) of Dover; her two sons, George Allen Bell Jr. (Marsha) of Dayton, and Eugene Clayton Bell (Susanne) of Coshocton; her 11 grandchildren, Ronald Coombs (Teresa), Catherine Penrod (Robert), Rachel Tice, Paul Coombs (Liz), Elizabeth Coombs, Melissa Bell, David Bell (Leslie), Amy Bell, John-Mark Bell (Hedda), Joseph Pittenger (Kayla) and Benjamin Pittenger (Megumi); her 18 great-grandchildren; and her nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, George, Catherine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shiloh Wise; her great-granddaughter, Sakura Pittenger; her sister, Marjorie Eisaman; her brother, David Pittenger; and by her nephew, Casey Eisaman. Family and friends were invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover Sunday, July 13, from 5-7 p.m., and Monday, July 14, from noon to 1 p.m. A funeral service was held Monday at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor David Eshleman. Burial was in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, a luncheon was held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
