David A. Fox, Sr.

                        

David A. Fox, Sr., age 71 of New Philadelphia, died after a short period of declining health in the Community Hospice Truman House on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018.

Born in Dover on Dec. 17, 1946, David was the son of the late Ralph Fox and Edna “Jean” (Kinsey) Fox. After completing his education at Dover High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1966-69 in Vietnam. He continued his service to his country for more than 20 additional years in the National Guard and Army Reserves.

David greatly enjoyed driving truck throughout his professional career, which began at the former Stone Container and spanned more than 17 years with Nickles Bakery. He was a member of the General Truck Drivers & Helpers Union Local No. 92. He also was the proud recipient of an award for driving 1 million miles with no citations or accidents.

David greatly enjoyed his Cobra Mustang, taking it out for drives on nice days or just polishing it and keeping it in top condition.

Most importantly David loved his family deeply and always enjoyed being with them. On Aug. 8, 1966, he married the former Carolyn L. Morgan. The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage this past August. He also was blessed with the birth of his children, David (Robin), Jr. of Uhrichsville and Laura “Lori” Fox Harding of Dennison. His grandchildren, Ryan (Joelle) Fox, Heather Fox, Morgan (David) Phelps, Wyatt and Garrett Harding, Haylee Meinhart, and Michael (Cynthia) Flynn, and great-grandchildren, Dominick Phelps and Jynx Flynn, held a special place in his heart. His sister, Nancy Fox, completes his family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his 3-month-old son, Richard James Fox, in 1969 and his brother, John Fox.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 4-7 p.m. Military honors will be rendered at a public graveside service in Dover Burial Park on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
