Elden “Lefty” Lenhart

                        
Elden “Lefty” Lenhart, 86, of Dover died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia after a period of declining health. He was born Feb. 23, 1928 in Bolivar to the late Warren and Ethel (Manuel) Lenhart. Elden was a retired employee of General Telephone Company where he had worked for 36 years. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching college basketball and football, as well as the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Twila (Morgan) Lenhart; his son, Todd (Lisa) Lenhart; grandchildren, Matthew, Claudia and Nicholas Lenhart of Gibsonia, Pa. and his daughter, Cynthia Lenhart of Kettering, England. He is also survived by his sister, Deanna Burger of Sugarcreek; brothers, Robert Lenhart of Columbus and Lee (Patsy) Lenhart of Walnut Creek; nieces, Roxanne (Ty) Hershberger, Lois (Rick) Wynn, Chris (John) Wisselgren; nephew, Robert (Sharon) Lenhart; eight great nieces and two great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four infant children; his sister, Dorothy Kent; brothers-in-law, William Kent and Dave Burger and sister-in-law, Martha Lenhart. Services were held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Rev. Lyn Houze officiating. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends called Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. prior to services.
