Frederick Edward Fritz Wendling, 79, of Newcomerstown passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Born May 9, 1934 in Dover, he was the son of the late Norman L. and Delphia May (Akers) Wendling. He graduated from Dover High School with the Class of 1952. Fritz was the owner of Wendling Construction in Dover. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and loved going to auctions with is sister in-law, Gwendolyn Wendling. He also had a soft spot in his heart for all animals; especially his dog, Bengi.
Survivors include his children; Linda Sue Bayer of Strasburg, Patti Ann Wendling of Strasburg, Douglas (Tracy) Wendling of Dundee, Scott (Tamela) Wendling of Marion, Lisa (Joseph) Paprzycki of Florida and Joanna (Tim) Ivey of Tennessee; step-son, Todd (Sharon) Schiefer of West Virginia; sister, Rachel Gianfrancesco of Dover; along with 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Wiseman, and three brothers, David, Johnny and Thomas Wendling.
A celebration of Fritzs life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at noon with pastor Ron Davis officiating. Interment will be held at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the service of committal, refreshments will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call two hours prior to the service Tuesday.
