Gerda I. Ritz

Gerda I. Ritz, 87, of Millersburg passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2014 at her home. She was born July 7, 1926 in Dt. Eylau, Germany and was the daughter of Hermann Otto and Ida (Grewener) Kurella. In 1955 she married James I. Ritz, and he preceded her in death December of 1968. Gerda enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, playing solitaire, painting and fishing. She is survived by three brothers and one sister, Heinz Kurella of Trier, Germany, Walter Kurella of Berlin, Germany, Dieter Kurella of Australia and Gertrude Wallace of Indianapolis, Ind. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ursella Rowe, and a brother, Carl Kurella. A memorial service was 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg with pastor Lawrence Jarka officiating.
