Haldene Davis obituary

                        
Haldene Fern Davis, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Feb. 5, 2010, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare, New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health. A daughter of the late Louis and Sue Spence, Haldene was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Warwick Township. She attended the former Ninevah School in the Goshen area before attending school in Pittsburgh and graduating from Uhrichsville High School in 1940. She was a member of Sharon Moravian Church. Haldene enjoyed traveling and writing poetry and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Most of all, she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always sure to bring a smile to her family members’ faces with her wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are her husband, Carl Duane Davis, whom she married in 1943; daughters, Cristene (Tim) McCarthy of New Philadelphia and Melissa (Rick) Baker of Bolivar; son, Mark (Rhonda) Davis of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Shawn (Donna) McCarthy of Dover, Kathleen (Jason) Celce of North Canton, Jason (Kathryn) Lehigh of Pataskala, Amber (Jay) Hunker of Kernersville, N.C., Dylan Flickinger of Bolivar, and Carly (Jeff) Positano of New Philadelphia; and 16 great-grandchildren, Chelsea (Zac) Creager of Dover, Markie Kate, Alyson, and Alexis McCarthy, Tyler, Brennen, and Connor Celce, Olivia, Charlie, and Simon Lehigh, Jakob, Makenzie, Gabrielle, Jarrett, and Sophie Hunker, and Riley Positano. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig McCarthy; and brother, Gene Spence. Services were held Feb. 8, 2010, at the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel, with Pastor Larry Fletcher. Burial was in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery, Tuscarawas. Those wishing to do so may send the family personal condolences and view an online memorial at www.geibcares.com.
