Helen Mullet

                        
Helen Mullet, 85, of Clark passed away Monday evening, April 28, 2014 at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg. Helen was born Sept. 16, 1928 in Holmes County and was the daughter of Harry and Mamie (Adams) Patterson. She was a graduate of Clark High School. She married Thornton Mullet and he preceded her in death August 23, 1969. Helen, along with her husband, were owners and operators of Mullet’s Cash Store and Feed Mill in Clark. She worked in bookkeeping at Rodhe’s IGA in Millersburg, retiring in 1990. Helen was an active member of Gray Ridge Church, where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed helping others, especially children. Helen was a volunteer at Clark Elementary School and also a volunteer for Hospice. She loved gardening, canning for missions, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She is survived by two daughters, Deanna Mullet and Sheree (Joseph) Oxley, both of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Betty Mullet of Millersburg; two grandchildren, Heather (Joe) McNichols of Dover and Jonathan Mullet and his fiancée, Desaree Collett of Bolivar and two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Jarrod McNichols, both of Dover. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Lucie Tipton of Lake Buckhorn, Earl “Peck” Patterson of Clark and Betty Patterson of Millersburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thornton; a son, Jerry Mullet; five sisters, Dora VanSickle, Eva MacDonald, Mary Hoxworth, Naomi Lender and Oaka Hoffer, and four brothers, Wells, Harry, Glenn and Charles Patterson. Funeral services were held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Robert Wengerd officiating. Burial was in Clark Cemetery, Clark. Friends called from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to all the nieces, nephews and close friends that helped keep Helen at her home, the place she loved, and to the third floor nursing staff at Pomerene that showed her love and comfort on her last journey home.
