Henry A. Yoder

                        
Henry A. Yoder, 89, of Berlin passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home in Millersburg following an extended illness. Henry was born Oct. 19, 1924 in Holmes County and was the son of Abraham J. and Mary (Miller) Yoder. He previously lived in Lone Grove, Okla. and Mesa, Ariz., but lived in Holmes and Coshocton County Ohio for most of his life. He married Ida Miller and she preceded him in death in July 1980, he later married Ruth (McGahan) Jones and she preceded him in death in April 2013. Henry was a founding member of the Berlin Christian Fellowship, where he was an Elder and recently attended Church on the Move in Massillon. He was a longtime active member of The Gideons International. Henry was a building contractor. He enjoyed fishing and story telling. He loved God, his family and he loved people. Surviving are 7 children and their spouses, Judy (Merle) Swartzentruber of Millersburg, Mary (John Sr.) Ruth of Massillon, Nora (David) Garrett of Canton, Martha (Dale) Garrett of Springfield, Mo., James D. (Jenny) Yoder of Yorba Linda, Calif., Timothy E. (Janet) Yoder of Brewster and JoAnne S. (John) Beale of Evansville, Ind.; step-children, Myron Jones of Mesa, Ariz. and Renae (Phil) Johnson of Franklin, Tenn.; 23 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two brothers, John A. Yoder of Millersburg and Abner A. (Esther) Yoder of Florida; and two sisters, Anna (Crist C.) Miller and Fannie (Jonas J.E.) Miller, both of Sugarcreek. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, John H. Yoder; sister-in-law, JoAnna Yoder; foster brother, Alvin Raber; and a step-grandson, Justin Johnson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Berlin Christian Fellowship with Pastor David Stutzman officiating. Burial will be at the Berlin Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214 - 0800. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg.
