Janet Elaine Wilson, age 85 of Scio, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Bedford, Ohio on April 9, 1933, Janet was raised in New Athens, Ohio and was a daughter of the late John J. and Anna Griminger Webb.

A 1951 graduate of the former Franklin High School at New Athens, Janet was honored to serve as her class valedictorian. Following high school, she continued her education in the nursing field.

Professionally Janet served as a nurse’s assistant and bookkeeper and was employed by Scio Pottery, Dr. Scott, Union Hospital and Gowins Trucking. She was a member of Tabor Ridge Community Church, Bowerston American Legion Auxiliary, various Little League organizations, and the Desk and Derrick Association.

Janet leaves behind her children, Debra (Larry) Baker of Carrollton, Robin (Rusty) Lee of Scio and son Ed (Margie) Wilson of Sugarcreek; grandchildren, Ricole “Ricci” Sanders of Dover, Clay Wilson of New Philadelphia, Brode (Rachel) Wilson and Logan (Bailey Goedel) Wilson, all of Sugarcreek; great-grandchildren, Hadley Sanders, Orion Sanders and Chole Bracken; her brother Vernon Webb of Bowerston; her sister Margie Smith of Columbus; her beloved dog Annie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Wilson, whom she married on May 23, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2012.

The family will greet guests on Friday, May 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor John Dunn will lead a celebration of Janet’s life on Saturday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
