John J.C. Miller, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Feb. 1, 2010, at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg. John was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Holmes County, to the late Joe C.D. and Emma Miller. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Surviving are his wife, Sarah W. Miller, whom he married in 1995; children, Emma (Henry) Miller of Howard, Ammon (Sarah) Miller of Middlefield, Lydia (Dannie) Raber of Howard, Andy (Fannie) Miller of Lakeville, Amos (Mary) Miller of Big Prairie, Fannie (David) Yoder of Dundee, Roy (Ada) Miller of Apple Creek, Edna (Atllee Jr.) Mast of Fredericksburg, Esther (Nathaniel Jr.) Hershberger of Sugarcreek, Roman (Ella) Miller of the home, Mattie (Paul) Mast of Holmesville, and John Jr. (Effie) Miller of Fredericksburg; 87 grandchildren; 117 great-grandchildren; brothers, Andy (Elizabeth) Miller, Cornelius (Mattie) Miller, Ammon (Lydia) Miller, and Abraham Miller, all of Fredericksburg; sisters, Sarah Raber of Howard, Anna Hershberger of Fredericktown, Mattie (Aden) Yoder of Westby, Wis., Emma Miller of Apple Creek, and Ada (Roman) Yoder of Fredericksburg; and sister-in-law, Mattie Miller of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie A. Miller, whom he married in 1949; brothers, Crist and Joe; sisters, Mary, Amanda, and Edna; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 4, 2010, at the family home, with Bishop Eli A. Mast officiating. Burial was in Miller Cemetery, Paint Township, Holmes County. Spidell Funeral Home, Mt. Eaton, handled arrangements.
