John Moorhead obituary

                        
John Maynard Moorhead, 7l, of Killbuck, formerly of Shreve, died Jan. 29, 20l0, at Sycamore Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Millersburg. John was born Oct. 16, 1938, on the family farm near Shreve, to the late John Paul and Miriam Esther Moorhead. A 1956 graduate of Shreve High School, he had worked at Diamonite for a number of years and was a farmer when he was younger, having grown up on the family farm. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John had great compassion for his pets and all animals. In the ‘70s, he drove stock cars at the Lakeville Speedway and Hilltop Speedway near Millersburg. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Jean Moorhead, whom he married in 196l; children, John Stacy (Nancy) Moorhead and Tony Eugene (Tammy) Moorhead, both of Big Prairie, Christal Lynette (Poncho) Barbasa of Greenwood, Miss., and Penny Jean Phillips and Dana Merial (Donna) Moorhead, both of Millersburg; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Paul Moorhead of Shreve; and a dear friend, Ann Bolenbaugh of Country Club Nursing Home, Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Diane; and sisters, Marjean Ditmars and Lucille Moorhead. Services were held Feb. 2, 2010, at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve, with Rev. Daniel L. DeHass officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve. A special thank you to the staff on C-wing at Sycamore Run for the wonderful care given dad these past two years.
