Juanita M. Wetzel

                        
Juanita M. Wetzel, 85, of Loudonville, died Monday afternoon, December 3, 2012 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville after an extended illness. Mrs. Wetzel was born December 26, 1926 in Sharon, PA and was the daughter of the late Harold and Rita (Winkless) Woolf. She grew up in Ravenna, was raised by her grandparents, Harry and Amelia Winkless, and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1944. She worked at Twin Coach in Kent where she met her future husband. She and Jim Wetzel were married on May 24, 1947. In 1952 they moved to Loudonville where she raised her growing family, was an active member and former secretary of Loudonville United Methodist Church, helped with the Brownies and Cub Scouts, assisted the Loudonville Lions Club with her husband, and worked the polls for the Ashland County Board of Elections for numerous years. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal Zone, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany, to name just a few. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James W. Wetzel; her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Woodie Carter of Mohicanville; her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Juli Wetzel of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Hilari (Brandon) Marshall, Dawne (Michael) Pound, Scott (Lisa) Carter, and Cari (Emile) Pierides; 5 great-grandchildren, Leevi and Evan Marshall, Lucas and Eleanor Pound, and Journey Carter; and a half-sister, Virginia Molnar of Florida. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 7 at 11:00am in Loudonville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Loudonville Cemetery.
