Kathryn Miller obituary

                        
Kathryn Y. Miller, 86, of Keiser, Ore., died Jan. 19, 2010. Kathryn was born April 8, 1923, in Hubbard, Ore., to Edward Z. and Alice P. Yoder. She was a 1940 graduate of Canby High School and had attended Goshen College, graduating in 1949. She was an elementary school teacher at Berlin Elementary and at the 91 School in Hubbard, Ore., from 1960-69 and from 1970 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Martins Creek Mennonite Church, Millersburg, and First Church of the Nazarene, Salem, Ore. She also helped in her community by teaching Sunday school and helping with the Book Club and the Early Birds. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, loved her flowers, as well as antiques, spending time at the beach, and cooking. She was very proud of her part in the Yoder Sister’s Cookbook. Surviving are her husband, Warren M. Miller, whom she married in 1949; sons, Edward Z. and Edwin Y. Miller, both of Salem, Ore.; daughter, Pamela K. Raber of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren, Paula K. Raber of Salem, Ore., Heidi J. Miller-Freetage of Millersburg, Michael E. Miller of Redmond, Ore., and Brannin S. Jackson-Miller of Coquille, Ore.; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Jan. 31, 2010, at First Church of the Nazarene, Salem, Ore. Arrangements were handled by Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Kathryn’s request was that contributions be made to Gideons International, 4670 Commercial St., SE, Salem, OR 97302.
