Marie E. Drumm, 82, of Wooster, died Jan. 23, 2010, at Wooster Community Hospital.
A daughter of the late Harold and Helen Everett, Marie was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Tuscarawas. She graduated from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1945 and continued her education at Grant Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1949. She was formerly employed as a nurse at Twin City Hospital, Dennison, as well as a nurse in the offices of Dr. E.R. Hammersley and Dr. W.C. Roche.
Marie was baptized in Frys Valley Moravian Church and grew up in Sharon Moravian Church, Tuscarawas. After moving from the Tuscarawas Valley, Marie and her family took up residence in Wooster, where she became an active member of First Presbyterian Church. Just a few of her activities in the church included singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and Bible school, as well as serving on various committees. She was also a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AP.
Marie and her family relocated to Hamilton, where she was a member of Front Street Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and member of the choir. During her time in Hamilton, she and her husband became the host parents of 10 different international students and the couple viewed each one as a member of the Drumm family. Before returning to Wooster, Marie and her husband resided in Columbus for nine years. During this time, she was an elder and choir member of Redeemer Moravian Church.
Marie dedicated much of her time to her church, but also spent countless hours volunteering herself to many organizations throughout her lifetime. She had a great love for children and especially her own grandchildren. She was a nanny for Sammie Post for four years and came to love Sammie just as she would one of her own grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Kathy (Jon) Buss of Germantown, Tenn., and Peggy (Larry) Herrick of Wooster; three grandchildren, Andy (Megan) Buss and Rachel and Matthew Herrick; sister, Grace Ann (Richard) Calderon of New Philadelphia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Drumm, whom she married in 1949.
Services were held Jan. 26, 2010, at John Heckewelder Moravian Church, Gnadenhutten. Burial was in Clay-Union Cemetery, Gnadenhutten.
