Mark Davis obituary

                        
Mark T. Davis, 50, of New Philadelphia, died Jan. 15, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Canton, following a brief illness. A son of the late Thomas W. and Elda L. Davis, Mark was born March 5, 1959, in Union Hospital. A graduate of New Philadelphia High School, he went on to obtain a degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He later earned his license as a professional engineer in Ohio and Kentucky. For the past 29 years, he worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 as a civil engineer, most recently holding the position of construction engineer. He was active within the local Masonic bodies, having earned a 32nd Degree Master Mason in the New Philadelphia Lodge 177 F&AM. He was also involved with the York and Scottish Rites and the Order of the Eastern Star #222. Mark was a boy at heart and a model train enthusiast who enjoyed designing and building H.O. Scale train sets and villages. Additionally, he loved to build and admire model aviation pieces and antique toys. He also volunteered to play Taps on his bugle for local military funeral details. Surviving are his wife, Debbie Davis, whom he married in 1983; sons, Kevin Davis, who is serving in the U.S. Coast Guard at Traverse City, Mich., and Kyle Davis, who is a student of architecture at Kent State University presently studying abroad in Florence, Italy; his mother-in-law, Barbara Campbell of New Philadelphia; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Carl Campbell. Services were held Jan. 19, 2010, at the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel, with Rev. Dick Greenwood officiating.
