Mattie Barkman

                        
Mattie Barkman, 87, of 2838 SR 557, Baltic (Farmerstown) died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born June 13, 1925 in Holmes County to the late John D. and Sarah (Troyer) Miller. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She was married Dec. 5, 1946 to Eli J. Barkman, who died July 28, 2011. She is survived by four sons, Mose (Marie) Barkman of Baltic, Jacob (Susie) Barkman of Baltic, Andrew (Saloma) Barkman of Sugarcreek and Roy (Mary) Barkman of the home; her daughter-in-law, Ada Barkman of Baltic; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Maryann) Miller of Baltic and Ammon (Lydiann) Miller of Danville; sisters, Sarah Schrock of Sugarcreek and Emma (Eli D.) Yoder of Michigan; and her brother-in-law, Joe D. Erb of Charm. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Ammon, a great-grandson, four brothers and three sisters. Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Clark Casting Building in Farmerstown, with Bishop Mose M.E. Yoder officiating. Burial was in Yoder Cemetery in Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the Barkman residence. Arrangements were handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
