OBITUARY | 2010-04-05

                        
Catherine Elizabeth Rausch, 94, of Walnut Creek, formerly of Sugarcreek and Stone Creek, died April 2, 2010, at Walnut Hills Retirement Community, following a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late George and Ida Sherretts, Catherine was born Dec. 4, 1915, near Bakersville. She graduated from Stone Creek High School in 1938 and was a longtime member of the former Grace United Church of Christ, currently known as Grace Community Church, at Stone Creek. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Friendship Circle at the church. Over the years, she was employed in both the housekeeping and laundry departments at Union Hospital. Catherine was a member of the VFW auxiliary and at one time was a state office holder for the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting with her friends at her church and at the Sugarcreek Senior Center and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter, Janet (David) Miller of Sugarcreek; five grandchildren, David (Nicole) Miller II of Sugarcreek, and Robert Evans, Michael Rausch, Patty Rausch, and Adrian Rausch Jr., all of Baltimore, Md.; and eight great-grandchildren, Mason and Marshall Miller, Chris, Garrett, Cory, Jonathan, and Keith Evans, and Logan Rausch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Rausch; son, Adrian Rausch; and sisters, Bernice Rinehart and Evelyn Burrier. Services will be held April 7, 2010, at 10 a.m., at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Tom Gruver officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center, New Philadelphia.
