Dorothy Rose Young, 87, of Coshocton, formerly of Dover, died April 26, 2010, at Autumn Healthcare, Coshocton, with her loving family around her. Born April 16, 1923, in New Philadelphia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Orin and Lucille Stauffer. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1941, and was later fond of telling how she had Woody Hayes as a teacher. She was employed by Buehler’s in Dover for many years, retiring in 1976, and shortly thereafter relocated to Clearwater, Fla., with her husband, where they owned and operated Dor-Ray Apartments. In 2002, they returned to Ohio and made their home in Coshocton. Dorothy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Dover. She adored her family, enjoyed reading and working crossword and other word puzzles. Surviving are a daughter, Laura Jo Hixson of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Raymond E. (Kathy) Young II of Coshocton; six grandchildren, Scott Hixson of New Port Richey, Fla., Randy Hixson and Holly Hixson, both of Knoxville, Kelle (Denny) Kiner of Loudonville, SSG Raymond E. Young III (fiancee, Jennifer Holsclaw), serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, and Teri (Steve) Spain of Newark; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kayla Hixson of Gainesville, Fla., Taryn and Emma VanAtta of Loudonville, and Cameron and Kennedy Kiner of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Gladys (Walter) Stotzer of Mineral City and Margene (Pete) Hicks of Sugarcreek; and brother-in-law, John (Ruth) Young of Ragersville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Young, whom she married in 1948; and her father- and mother-in-law, Floyd and Emma Young. Services were held April 29, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Michael W. Lowry officiating. Burial was in Dover Burial Park.
