A son of Phyllis Griesen and the late Hoyt Duane Shotwell, Lonnie was born Jan. 31, 1961, at Union Hospital, Dover. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He was employed by Gradall since 1992 as a painter and took pride in the fact that he put the finishing touches on the machinery.

Lonnie was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. He also enjoyed playing pool and collecting model trains. He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes as well as NASCAR.

Surviving are his wife, Tami Shotwell, whom he married in 1992; his mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Jerry Griesen of Stone Creek; sister, Sherry (Dan) Fechuch of Uhrichsville; brother, Gary Shotwell of New Philadelphia; half-brother, Duane (Ashley) Shotwell of South Carolina; his beloved dogs, Autumn, Lady, and Daisy; and many other extended family members.

Services will be held May 5, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Mike Bilza officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center, New Philadelphia. The family will receive guests May 4, from 5-8 p.m.

Because of Lonnie’s love for animals, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed in his memory to an organization benefiting animals.
