Charlene B. Zurcher, 65, of Dover, died May 2, 2010, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
A daughter of Anna Marie Martin of New Philadelphia and the late George H. Martin, Charlene was born May 14, 1944, in New Philadelphia. She was a 1963 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. For a number of years, she was employed as a seamstress for the former D&D, Prince Beaderman, and Bobbie Brooks sewing factory prior to starting her own cleaning company, CZs Best Cleaning, which she and her husband operated for 18 years prior to retiring.
Charlene enjoyed spending time with her family and being around her numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, she loved gardening and painting outdoor scenery which contained wildlife, and helping others. She also had a passion for animals and cared for her pets as if they were her own children.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald Jerry Zurcher, whom she married in 1963; brothers, Gene Martin, Dwight Martin, and Jimmy (Chris) Martin, all of New Philadelphia, and George (Tony) Martin Jr. of Canton; sisters, Donna Linard of New Philadelphia, and Doris (Jim) Haas and Ruth M. Martin, both of Dover; sister-in-law, Judy Martin of New Philadelphia; brother-in-law, Earl (Suzy) Zurcher of Parkersburg, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Delores Zurcher of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Edgar Martin and Gerald Martin; sisters-in-law, Patricia Martin and Millie Martin; brothers-in-law, Sonny Martin and Gene Linard; and her father-in-law, Wilbert Zurcher.
Services will be held May 7, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Jeff Graska officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. The family will receive friends May 6, from 5-7 p.m.
