Michele Lynn Petty, 53, of Berlin, died May 10, 2010, at her home, following a five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born Feb. 7, 1957, in Piqua, Michele was the daughter of Mary Ann Tate of Galion and Howard Mitchell Petty of Piqua. She completed her formal education at Wright State and the Ohio College of Massotherapy and had owned the Massage Therapy Clinic in Dover and New Philadelphia for many years. She had a deep passion for her work as a licensed massage therapist, as well as her love for hiking, painting, fishing, singing, and going to the ocean. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover, and the American Massage Therapy Association. Surviving are a brother, Mitchell “Mick” (Sandy) Petty of Mt. Gilead; half-brothers and -sisters; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; her best friend and caregiver, Sandy Troyer, with whom she resided; and her canine companion, Mandie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Mullan; and a niece, Kaytlyn Mullen. Funeral Mass will be held May 14, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover, with Fr. Matt Hoover officiating. Interment will be in Fletcher Cemetery. Friends can call May 13, from 4-7 p.m., at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
