Doris C. Seward, 77, died May 13, 2010, at Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar, following a long illness. Doris was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Assumption, Ill., to the late James I. and Ailcie M. Carson. She graduated in 1950 from Moweaqua High School, Moweaqua, Ill., and retired in 1992 from the U.S. Postal Service as post master of the Bolivar Post Office. She had also worked for the Heinemann Saw Co. and Diebold Safe Co., both of Canton, and was a civilian contractor for the U.S. government. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bolivar, a former member of the Bolivar American Legion Auxiliary, a member of NARFE, and a past member of the Bolivar Fire Department, and was one of the first members of the department to become an EMT. She was also a former member of the Wilkshire Woman’s Golf League. Surviving are children, Christina “Tina” Alexander, Nathan Seward, Richard (Rebecca) Seward, and Richard (Tammy) Seward; six grandchildren, Melissa, Brian (Stacy), Nicole, Ben, Curtis, and Matthew; brother, Bob Carson; and sisters, Norman (Jerry) Wright, Lucille (Burl) Harper, and Lois (Jack) Keho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas L. Seward; son, Andrew James Seward; and a great-grandson, Leander Seward. Services will be held May 18, 2010, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 156 Poplar St. SW, Bolivar, with Rev. Mike Pozzuto officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar.
