Pauline M. Badertscher, 92, of Goshen, Ind., formerly of Orrville, died May 13, 2010. Pauline was born August 2, 1917, in Orrville, to the late Menno and Anna Gerber. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, having taught at Kidron Elementary, Anderson School, and Apple Creek Elementary. She enjoyed country life, gardening, playing piano, and singing. She loved the outdoors, hunting mushrooms, and could recognize all the local birds by their songs. She is remembered for her penmanship, trio singing, her work with children’s programs in church, her famous vegetable soup, and her love for collie dogs. She was a life member of Salem Mennonite Church, Kidron. Surviving are children, Roelif Badertscher of Goshen, Ind., Wendell (Esther) Badertscher of Bluffton, and Rhonda (Mike) Yoder of Middlebury, Ind.; granddaughters, Lindsay (Grant) Williams and Tasha Yoder; and sister, Iona (Stan) Hostetter of Wadsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan L. Badertscher, whom she married in 1943; sisters, Nola Gerber, Mabel Wanner, and Goldie Lehman; and brother, Clarence Gerber. Services were held May 16, 2010, at Salem Mennonite Church, near Kidron, with Pastor Darrell Ediger officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
