John A. McCluggage, 75, of Millersburg, died May 20, 2010, at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, following a sudden illness. John was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Holmes County, to the late Ralph Sr. and Mildred McCluggage. He worked 35 years at Killbuck Equipment and several years at Dick’s Plumbing, and was a farmer all his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1956-58, and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Holmesville American Legion and was a life member of the Killbuck VFW, the Millersburg Eagles, and the Conservation Club in Holmesville. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis McCluggage, whom he married in 1956; children, Brad McCluggage and David McCluggage, both of Millersburg, Laurie (Carey) McCluggage of Florida, and Roger (Jacque) McCluggage of Holmesville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Julia) McCluggage Jr. of Millersburg; and sister, Lula (Jim) Hanna of Millersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Bob Shinabarker. Services will be held May 24, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Trevor Littleton officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville, with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
