Tommy Lane Thompson, 68, of Uhrichsville, died unexpectedly May 23, 2010, at his residence. Tommy was born June 9, 1941, in Dennison, to the late Harold E. Sr. and Geraldine Thompson. A life resident of the area, he was a 1959 graduate of Dennison High School. He had worked for many years as a coal miner and most recently had worked as a truck driver. He loved spending time with his family, especially taking his daughter golfing and hunting. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Jean Thompson, whom he married in 1994; daughter, Shelby Thompson of the home; sons, Terry (Bobbi) Thompson of Bolivar, Brian Thompson (companion Cheri Schupbach) of Strasburg, and Kerby (Shelly) Thompson of Honolulu, Hawaii; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Randy (Marsha) Thompson of New Philadelphia and Haddie (Merleyann) Thompson II of Dennison; sister, Dawn Ann (Herb) Cotton of Uhrichsville; father- and mother-in-law, John and Mary Schaar of Dover; brothers- and sisters-in-law, John Jr. and Melanie Schaar of Sherrodsville and Brenda and Jerry Goehring of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a niece, Jeanette Gatchell. Services will be held May 29, 2010, at 11 a.m., at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Dennison, with Rev. Ed Shriver officiating. Family and friends are invited to call May 28, from 5-8 p.m. Those wishing to honor his memory with a memorial donation may do so to the Shelby Thompson College Fund at any First National Bank of Dennison branch.
