Charlene R. “Char” Best-McDaniel, 46, of New Philadelphia, died May 29, 2010, surrounded by her family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 24, 1964, in Dennison, Charlene was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Margie R. Best. She had worked at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center and as a babysitter. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are children, Jerimiah Hartline of New Cumberland, Hayley Hartline of Stone Creek, Derek Cross of Scio, Dillon Cross of New Philadelphia, and Wyatt Fluharty of Bowerston; a granddaughter, Rylee Alexis Heter of Stone Creek; sisters, Jane Best of Uhrichsville, Paula (Bill) Hupp of New Philadelphia, and Angel (Marty) Hupp of the Tappan Lake area; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Thomas Edmonds. Services will be held June 2, 2010, at 1 p.m., at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Dennison, with Pastor Milo Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to call June 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Those wishing to honor her memory with a memorial donation may do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County or the American Cancer Society.
